Summer in the City – Skateboarding Lessons/Sessions

Sunday 30th August

Come along and have a go at skateboarding with Crazy Dan Skateboard Coach as part of Summer in the City!

These sessions are designed to give children and families the opportunity to try skateboarding in a fun, friendly and supervised environment.

What Will We Be Doing?

Participants will be introduced to the basics of skateboarding, including:

  • Getting comfortable standing on a skateboard

  • Balance and board control

  • Pushing and stopping

  • Basic turning

  • Simple skateboarding skills

  • Having a go on a small street ramp, where appropriate and under the coach's instruction

The activities will be adapted to suit the participant's age, confidence and ability.

🛡️ Safety First

The safety of everyone taking part is our number one priority.

Helmets must be worn at all times while skateboarding.

Protective equipment will be available for participants to use, including helmets and pads.

Before activities begin, the skateboards and equipment will be checked to make sure they are safe and suitable for use.

The skateboarding area will be clearly marked out using cones and, where required, caution tape.

Participants must:

  • Follow the coach's instructions at all times.

  • Wear a helmet while skateboarding.

  • Use the equipment safely and appropriately.

  • Wait for their turn and stay within the designated activity area.

  • Not enter the ramp or activity area until instructed.

  • Stop immediately when instructed by the coach.

  • Treat other participants, equipment and the event area with respect.

🛹 Small Street Ramp

A small street ramp will be available as part of the activity.

The ramp is intended for participants who are ready and confident enough to use it. Participants will only use the ramp under the direction of the coach.

The coach will decide whether a participant is ready to use the ramp based on their ability, confidence and safe control of the skateboard.

No participant should attempt tricks or activities on the ramp without instruction.

👨‍👩‍👧 Parents & Guardians

Parents and guardians should remain aware of their child's participation during the event.

Please tell the coach before the session if your child has any medical condition, injury, allergy or additional need that may affect their participation.

Children should wear suitable clothing and secure footwear.

Please bring water, particularly if the weather is warm.

🌞 Weather & Ground Conditions

Skateboarding activities may be changed, paused or stopped if weather or ground conditions make it unsafe to continue.

The coach will make the final decision regarding whether an activity or piece of equipment can be used safely.

📊 Helping Bring More Skateboarding Events

Attendance and participation numbers may be recorded to help demonstrate the success and community impact of the skateboarding activity.

Anonymised information may be used when working with the Council, event organisers, community partners and potential funders to support future skateboarding activities and community events.

🎉 Come Along and Have a Go!

Whether you're completely new to skateboarding or already have some experience, come along and give it a try.
